China, Korea and the US are the leading trading partners of Vietnam
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, China remains the largest trading partner of Vietnam in the first five months of 2017 with a turnover of $US 32.76 billion, up 23.6% over the same period last year.
Followed by Korea with $US 23.94 billion, sharply increasing by 45.2%; the US market gave up place to Korea and became the Vietnam's third largest trading partner with a turnover of $US 19.96 billion, up 12.9%; the EU (28 countries) was the Vietnam's fourth largest trading partner with a two-way turnover of $US 19.66 billion, up 13.3%.
In the five months of 2017, among Vietnam's ten largest trade partners, only three partners had a trade surplus. Among them, the United States is the largest importer of Vietnam with a trade surplus of $US 12.07 billion; Followed by the EU market with a trade surplus of $US 10.03 billion, the Japanese market with a smaller trade surplus of $ US 152 million.
Meanwhile, in terms of trade deficit, the Korean market is the leading exporter with a deficit of $ US 12.96 billion, followed by Chinese market with $ US 11.5 billion; and Taiwan with $ US 3.9 billion.
